This organic estate coffee from Papua New Guinea has notes of cut charred wood and a sweet, smooth, “rolling” heavy body. This coffee, which is new to our selection, has a strong, all-pervasive aroma of sugar and black-strap molasses that assaults the senses. Rich, sharply defined boldness that is both traditional and sensual flows like syrup and honey. For those who like their coffee with more body and density, this is the ideal cup. This Indonesian coffee lacks the earthy flavour of Celebes and Sumatra. The profile of Papua New Guinea is surprisingly spotless. Its simplistic spice and understated fruit are evocative of Yemen coffees, and the overall impression is defined by the medium body as well as clean finish. You encounter mild acidity and subtle citrus undertones along the way. Among a region of somewhat rebellious coffees, a distinct straight-laced and graceful coffee.
